Young Money Entertainment was founded by Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known in the music world as Lil Wayne a highly acclaimed Grammy awarded rap superstar from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was so successful in his chosen field than even President Barack Obama already mentioned his name twice in public speeches extolling the skills and success of Lil Wayne as someone kids could emulate to. Young Money was founded in 2005 as a derivative of another successful New Orleans based Cash Money Records for which Lil Wayne also served as President of the label ( he joined cash Money as teen). The company was established as a vehicle for gifted individual in showcasing their talent to the world. The first artist to be signed was Mack Maine(Jermaine Preyan) and Gudda Gudda(Carl Lilly ) in 2007 followed by Drake(Aubrey Drake Graham), Nicki Minaj(Onika Maraj ,the girl with incredible curves), Jae Millz(Jarvis Mills), Tyga(Michael Stevenson), Shannel(Shanell Woodgett), Lil Chuckee(Rashad Ballard), Lil Twist(Christopher Moore) Short Dawg(Supreme Williams)and T-Streetz(Carl Watts). This group is personally chosen by Lil Wayne and Young Money for their exceptional talent as part of the Young Money (the group) and as an individual artist (YME also signed them up as solo artist). Omarion, Curren$y, Boo, Kidd Kidd and Pyro was a former artist of Young Money. We are Young Money( the Album) was released on December 21,2009 receiving mixed from critics. But the album did not disappoint the multitude of Hip Hop fans as the 1st single Every Girl peaked at the number ten while the 2nd single peaked at number two at the U.S. Billboards Hot 100 charts.
