Dubbed as La Mexicana Rose, Thalia or Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda was the daughter of Ernesto Sodi Pallares and Yolanda Miranda Mange. Little did they know that their youngest daughter, born on August 26, 1971 in Mexico City would someday be a renowned singer/actress in almost all of the Spanish-speaking countries including countries in Southeast Asia. Blessed extraordinary beauty and a lovely voice, she rose to fame in the 1990’s through her chart topping solo albums and starring in strings of Mexican telenovelas.
Her road to stardom started at an early age. By the time she reached ten, she was already singing professionally as a part of Din Din (a children’s Group) and three years later began venturing into acting. But it was her stint as a member of a teen group Timbiriche and landing a role in the Mexican telenovela Pobre Seniorita Limatour that cemented her aspiration to become a formidable singer and actress she would later become.
By 1990, she released her self titled album and two years later she started acting in telenovelas popularly known as the “ Maria’s telenovela ; Maria Mercedes, MariMar and Maria la del Barrio. The series of Thalia’s soap was so popular that Thalia was christened La Reina de las Telenovelas ( Queen of the Telenovelas). While her acting takes her to greater heights her singer career takes a backseat until she released her album “ En Extasis” through EMI Latin that also brought her unprecedented success in her singing career earning her a Latin Grammy nomination, and a Diva Award At 2008 Premios Juventud (Youth Awards).
